Are blue Ray Burners really worth the money?

I know they have software that can now bypass the Blue Ray protection, but is it really worth the effort and trouble. Blue Ray recorders are coming down, I seen them as low as $500. The Blue Ray media is so damn expensive. I seen single disc go for $15-$25 for one disc. I seen a 50 pack go for $560. It doesn’t sound like it would be to profitable to burn Blue Ray movies, just seeing how expensive they are. For a few more bucks you can own the actuall DVD. What do you guys think.
